Real Estate Agents without their own websites, in today’s age, come off as less credible and less professional. It’s no wonder why these agents get fewer clients and referrals and make fewer sales.

You wouldn’t leave your child with a babysitter without Googling them first. The same goes for clients and their real estate professionals. Clients want to know that their biggest investment would be placed in good hands. So what does this mean for agents? This means that agents who are not staying on trend by having their own real estate website are falling behind and losing to their competition. Think of it this way, if the majority of homebuyers resort for the internet first and you do not have your own real estate website, how can you expect homebuyers to find you and then decide to choose you over the competition?

Not having a personal website as a realtor today is like retailers who do not offer to sell their products online. The thing that many people do not realize is that there is a huge market online where if products are not offered online, they half their chance of getting any sales. This is because 81% of shoppers conduct online research before buying (Morrison, K, 2014), in which many of these buyers will usually persuade from something else they come online, such as products, ads, reviews, etc.

Did you know that 71% of home buyers expect real estate agents to have a website and social platforms (National Association of Realtors, 2017)? This means that agents without a website seem out-of-date since the majority of agents now have switched from offline to online.


2. More home buyers are doing their research online.

As mentioned above, 81% of shoppers do research online before buying. In addition, 95% of home buyers use realtors online websites as their main sources of information (Optimizer, 2018). So what does this mean? This means that realtors who are not online, as mentioned previously are majorly missing out. 


3. Open houses cannot be open 24/7.

According to the National Association of Realtors, 90% of home buyers start their search online. Since a personal website works 24/7, it will enable all of these prospects to explore properties through photographs, videos, property descriptions anymore without having to schedule an open house (National Association of Realtors, 2017).

4. The competition is getting fierce in the real estate world due to the growth of the internet. 

Personal branding in real estate is important because realtors need to set themselves apart from the competition. As a result, when realtors create their own website, they begin to market themselves online. Since a realtor’s website are a direct reflection of themselves, their goals, and their services. Having a personalized website means that no matter where they go, their clients will be able to find them (Cordy, M, 2015). 


5. Websites are easier and affordable than ever before.

Since technology has made the internet more accessible, advanced and more credible in recent years, websites have become a lot more affordable as a result. To add to this, 64% of consumers now make purchases after watching branded social videos. What this means is having a personalized website as a realtor is an easy way to market towards this new wave of online buyers (Jarboe, G, 2017).
